Tony Sanchez, our Choir Manager for several seasons, has been singing his whole life. Throughout his childhood, he sang in numerous church and school choirs. His formal training began his freshman year in high school when his choir teacher connected him with Sue Burratto to start voice lessons. That mentorship led him to Texas Wesleyan University, where he earned his degree in Vocal Performance.
Tony is married to his high school sweetheart, Brandi, and they have one daughter, Emma. Emma is also a performer, and that reignited Tony’s passion for singing. In 2017, Tony heard about Fort Worth Chorale from a friend and decided to audition. He was thrilled to reconnect with the Burrattos – Alan Burratto has been the long-standing accompanist for the FWC. Additionally, Tony reconnected with Carol Pyle, who was his choir teacher during his later high school years. Carol sang with the Chorale for many years, and continues to generously serve in a variety of positions, including on the Board of Directors.
“I consider myself lucky to have had such strong choral mentors.” He also shared that he loves his time with the Chorale and every aspect of singing choral music. Tony and his wife are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year. They are “almost empty-nesters”, as Emma will start college at TCU in the fall.
Working with Dr. Kenaston-French on logistics for rehearsals and concerts is an important job, and Tony always does it cheerfully. Please join us in thanking him for volunteering to be our choir manager!
